Saint John Seniors — PICNIC!
The day was beautiful with a sunny, yet slightly breezy air to it, and the feeling of excitement was all around. It had been some time since the picnic area at Saint John had been used, but on May 10th at 12 noon the area was filled with fellowship as people gathered together for a picnic luncheon.
A few weeks prior to the luncheon, Clifton Chapman cleaned the area. He did a such a wonderful job and by the time people gathered for the picnic – everything was beautiful – thank you Clifton! We appreciate you and all the others who put forth the hard work in this area. We had just come down from the high of the St. John UMC “Big Yard Sale” which raised a good profit.
Also, right before the luncheon took place, a truck from the Salvation Army drove up to pick up the items that were not sold at the “Big Yard Sale event,” which was very successful. A group of people that showed up for the luncheon decided to pitch in to help load the truck and get the process done. We appreciate all who helped!
Thank you — Vicky Durden for your expert cooking and all the ladies who pitched in for deserts that are usually eaten first (hee hee). Alan Hayes had a hand in the smoking/grilling of the chicken which was a winner.
There were certainly many hands that worked together to make this such a wonderful event and we thank you so much! I believe this was the perfect picnic with flags flying throughout the area to show how we honor America the beautiful and those we lost— one being our beloved Johnny Guyton who passed a few weeks earlier.
What a wonderful experience to have been a part of! Thank you and God bless all of you!
