Looking Forward to Everyday Christianity
On April 17th Saint John had a wonderful Easter worship service that celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without a doubt, it will be remembered as the highlighted worship service of the year—as it should be. So, how do you follow that? You don’t, which is why I preached on the idea of “mundane Christianity” the following week. If you missed it, the sermon is now uploaded on the website (check it out when you have a moment), but in a nutshell, mundane Christianity is simply living into your Christianity every single day. It is Christianity without the mountain experiences, much like the Easter celebration that we all were a part of two weeks ago. So, why am I stressing mundane Christianity? Well, typically after Easter, church activity tends to slow a good bit as summer approaches. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case for Saint John. In fact, as I write this, there are many hands at work preparing for the yard sale event that will take place on May 7th. Soon after that, the Saint John Youth will gather together to start planning for summer events and then before we know it, it will be time for Vacation Bible School, which is another big event. So, let’s keep looking forward and moving forward as we honor God by living into our Christianity — Christianity in our everyday lives together. God Bless all of you.
