Revealing God’s Potential Phase II
We are now in phase II of God’s shared vision for St. John. Phase II is called Clean Sweep (Matthew 9:16-17; James 5:1-11). The goal is to clear out the facilities. This is not about “cleaning” the facilities rather it is preparation for cleaning. It is vital that we understand that phase I is behind us and the opportunity to decide what must stay and what must go has passed.
As a measure, we can look to Jesus’ Words in the Scriptures where He replied to the people’s question regarding why John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Jesus’ disciples do not, “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins” (Mark 2:22, ESV). The point that Jesus was making was that a new order was being ushered in through His ministry. How exciting that must have been! With this in mind, God has provided us with a “fresh” new exciting wineskin (vision) to look forward to.
