“Trash Talk” With Evelyn
It was a dark and stormy morning (I always like to start my stories off with this saying) but despite all of that, we had a good crowd of people who braved the weather and attended the meeting “Trash Talk” on Feb. 4th.
Kandace Cave and officer Ford (litter enforcement) attended and were the main speakers. We had pastries and coffee. The meeting lasted about an hour and the talk went well. People from other areas attended which surprised me and I realized that many have been concerned with the level of trash that is all over. We even had the news media out that interviewed several of us after the talk. Later, I found out that they even had my big mug on the news.
Kandace and officer Ford explained why there was so much litter and the phycology of it all. What is our role in all of this? Well, litter doesn’t just magically disappear. While we do have dollars available for clean-up, there is a lot we need to consider because in the last 2 years of the virus, it has limited the workers that where once available. So, what are we to do? I don’t believe the answer is raising taxes. The workers and volunteers are few. I am happy to see that people do care. Now we need the call to action. Will you help in volunteering? If so, please contact me. This is an ongoing process. I look forward to working with all of you and think of it like this, it’s a great community project that will help us to work together and make new friends.
