BPW Building for Covered Dish “Pot Luck” Lunch
We welcome Bob Healy, Pastor Kendell’s dad, as our guest speaker. He will share information on one of the world’s biggest and most devastating businesses — human trafficking. Human trafficking is a $9.8 billion dollar industry, and while it may seem far away, it is very much alive in our own backyard. Mr. Healy is co-founder of the South Carolina Legislative Roundtable, an association of non-profits from around the state dedicated to providing restorative services to victims of sex trafficking and raising public awareness. The Roundtable promotes legislation to dismantle the financial, legal and social infrastructure that enables the underground sex economy.
Lay Servant School — Greenwood District
Lay Servant Ministries in the United Methodist Church provides training so that we are prepared to make disciples. The ministries of Lay Servanthood are Leading, Caring, and Communicating. After two years of “Zoom only” classes, the Greenwood District Lay Servant Ministries is offering an “in-person” school on Sunday, April 24th and Sunday, May 1st, at St. Mark UMC in Greenwood.
More information will be available soon. This would be a perfect time for those who are interested in learning more about Lay Servanthood (service of all who are not clergy) to take the Basic Class which will introduce you to the ministries of leading, caring, and communicating, to better equip you to make disciples, which is what Jesus calls us to do in His name. Those who have completed the Basic Course will want to take an Advanced Course, of which there are several offered for your choice.
