Many Thanks To God For His Blessings!
(Reflecting Back while Forging Forward)
Naturally, this is the time of year (the last week in 2022) when many of us reflect on the past year, and as I look back, the one thing that comes into view is God’s many blessings. God has enriched Evelyn and me through calling us to Saint John and we are so thankful. All of you have expressed the truest love and Christian hospitality toward us, which we have discovered—is just a part of who you are—full of love and grace. We thank you for your generous gifts.
This year, the giving of yourselves and of your monetary giving has grown, and to this God is so thankful for you! Your giving has opened wide doorways of ministry that enable us to join together in God’s work in the world. Giving is a true sign that the gift God has given you in Jesus Christ is moving your hearts to action. Again, thank you for your giving hearts.
One of the fruits from your giving is seen in the children and youth at Saint John. At the beginning of this year, the children and youth were not meeting; however, Saint John stepped forward in faith and prepared the Darby Activity Building for the arrival of VBS, which was a success. After VBS, the parents of our children and youth worked together to build up a children/youth group and began to meet regularly. Those who attended the Christmas children/youth Christmas worship service on December 18th experienced the many fruits of all the work that God is doing in the children and youth (and parents) at Saint John—of which your giving has made possible. Again, thank you—thank you—thank you for your giving hearts.
In addition to the children/youth ministry, a group gathered together and constructed a Christmas float for the parade—WOOHOO! Further, several Bible study groups were formed, which meet regularly outside of Sunday morning. The prayer shawl ministry group continued to provide for members in need and I am certain that many are warmed by the love that extends from their hands. Even further still, St. John Seniors fellowshipped through their monthly gatherings and there was even a trip to see Noah’s ark. The UMMen met regularly and they are active in God’s work, and continue to seek out ways to further the heavenly kingdom. The annual yard sale was a success (my goodness-that was impressive). The choir continued to grow and speaking of growth—we welcomed several new members this year—and we are even working on a new membership photo-directory (available online). This past Advent season was one characterized with busyness for the Lord, to which I give thanks to God. Lastly, on Christmas Day—Saint John hosted another fellowship meal, which was another heartwarming gathering. I just know that I’ve left something out, but there is just so much to be thankful for—I can’t recall everything. Thank you—Thank you—Thank you! I wonder what God has planned for 2023!
