For Everything There is a Season

Moments ago, I sat down to write this very article that you are reading, and the Spirit kept on nudging me toward those beautiful words in Ecclesiastes chapter 3 about having a time for every matter under the sun. I fully believe that right now, the Holy Spirit is wanting you to take a moment and reflect on these words. Surely, we will all read this portion of Scripture through our own experiences, and it is also true that we will all, perhaps, feel something different while reading through it. I want to encourage you to read through it several times and let the Holy Spirit speak to you and touch your heart.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die;

A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal;

A time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

A time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to seek, and a time to lose;

A time to keep, and a time to throw away;

A time to tear, and a time to sew;

A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate;

A time for war, and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

I will note that in all times, we are to love God and neighbor. In all times we should be in prayer. In all times we should be mindful of God’s presence in our lives, and in all times, we are to carry each other’s burdens, and by doing so we will be fulling the law of Christ.
