October 2023 Newsletter

Let’s begin this month’s newsletter with a portion of Scripture from Acts 2:42-47

They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching and to fellowship, to breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. - Acts 2:42-47

The above passage is a portrait of the early Church soon after it came into fruition. It paints a picture of a faith-filled community unlike any other during that time, and the beautiful thing is that we are very much a part of this community. I want to challenge you to read the above Scripture several times, pausing between each reading to take note of what comes to your mind. Can you picture the fellowship that the author is writing about? Can you imagine the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles? What do you think some of those wonders and signs were? What does it mean that all the believers were together and had everything in common? Most of all, can you picture these things happening today within your Church family at Saint John? I hope and pray that you can.

The following is the worship schedule for the Fall season that we are now in. I believe that it lives into the Scripture passage above and provides us opportunities to continue expanding the family of God. In addition to the worship schedule, there will be new opportunities to fellowship and gather such as a new on-line Bible-study beginning October 1 from 7-8pm as well as in-person Bible-study beginning October 4th from 6-7pm in the Education building. Check the Church events calendar online to see what other events we have planned for the Fall and Advent Season!
