June 2023 Newsletter

Right now, we are in the middle of a sermon series on conviction, which began on May 14th with the idea that it is not enough to simply believe in something rather there must be a certain conviction that comes along side of your belief that enables you to act on it. This, I believe, is at the heart of James 1:22 where it states, “But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.” I am continuously praying and hoping that you are growing with this sermon series and are rekindling your “convictions” of being disciples of Christ who are both hearing and doing the word of God. For the remainder of this sermon series, we will be remain- ing in James chapter one – with the focus set on James 1:19 regarding being quick to listen and slow to speak. If I’m being honest, those two things are not the easiest, but practicing them can only yield good fruit for both the self and others. If you’ve missed any of the sermons, visit the sermons link on the website and select “series” in the menu to bring it up. God bless all of you as we live into our belief and convictions.

Altar Flowers (WE NEED VOLUNTEERS)

At St. John, it has been our tradition to place fresh flowers or greenery in the Sanctuary. These flowers and plants remind of us of the beauty of God’s creation.

Flowers or a plant can be placed in the Sanctuary for anniversaries, birthdays, in memory or in honor of a loved one. The occasion of your loved one will be acknowledged in the Sunday Bulletin. Or, you can simply give the flowers to the Glory of God.

Please contact the church office (803-663-7041) to sign up for a date of your choice. These flowers can be cut fresh flowers, arrangements from a florist or flower pots from your home.
