Renovation BP Building
We are planning on doing some work in the BP Building
We are thankful of the vision that Bessie Pearl Williams had 45 years ago. We are blessed and proud to have a building of this size and quality to host events for our church and the community. We feel now is a good time to embrace our responsibility of preserving this building for the future.
The trustees have received bids for various projects needed to improve the structure and cosmetics of the building. Replacing the gutters and rotten wood was our first priority and this work was started on Monday, July 24th. We would like to continue with the exterior of the building, which will include painting and repairing some roof leaks. Further, we plan to move to the interior with the painting of all walls and rooms, replacing ceiling tiles, reno- vating the bathrooms, replace carpet, replace flooring in both vestibules and outside stoops We are also looking at redesigning the right sidewalk. A few years ago, the kitchen was refurbished and the HVAC system was replaced in 2021.
This renovation will be quite costly, totaling over $70,000.00. The good news is that we already have in our renovation account approx. $40,000.00.
As with our renovations in the Sanctuary, Educational Building and Parson- age, we are asking first for your prayers. Please pray for a sense of unity and spirit of cooperation. This is a big undertaking and will require the sup- port of our entire congregation.
We ask that you consider what you can give beyond your normal tithing as
we need to preserve our daily operating budget. If you would like to make a specific donation to this fund, please label a separate envelope with “Renovations.” We will keep you posted of the
progress of monies received.
Additionally, we will be holding fundraising dinners and events in the near future to specifically work to fund this project. Our first dinner was the Christmas in July Dinner. We collected $3,065.00! Our next dinner will be Novem- ber 12th, following a special Patriotic Service.
We thank you for your support and are excited about preserving this building as a place for Christian Fellowship for generations to come!
Sincerely,
Trustees of St. John
